Scholarship Newsletter

 

SCHOLARSHIPS THAT REQUIRE A NOMINATION:

 

Students who wish to be nominated for a particular scholarship must submit the following to Mrs. Pashigian by the posted deadline:

 

1.      A resume for each of the scholarship you wish to be considered for

2.      Complete and return the required application/essay (if applicable)

 

The Student Recognition Committee will consider the qualifications/eligibility of all the students who wish to be nominated and make the final selection.

 

    

           –Scholarship Name: Gates Millennium Scholars

             Amount: $ amount varies

            Eligibility Requirements: African American/Am. Indian/Alaska Natives,

            Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students, citizen or

            permanent resident of USA, enrolling in accredited US college as a full time

            student, leadership, Federal Pell Grant 

            Strongly urged to apply on line at:    www.gmsp.org

            Deadline: January 12, 2009 (more than one student may apply)  

 

SCHOLARSHIPS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE NOMINATIONS

 

·        Chesapeake Bay Trust Arthur Dorman Scholarship- $5,000 GPA: 3.0 promotes environmental awareness- Website: www.chesapeakebaytrust.org Deadline: Nov. 20, 2009

·        NSA – Stokes Educational Scholarship- Full Tuition- GPA: 3.0 studying computer science, computer or electrical engineering; application on line

·        SAE Engineering Scholarship Program- http://www.sae.org/students/engschlr.htm Deadline: December 1, 08

·        Soroptimist International Violet Richardson Award Program- $100 plus $200 to charity of your choice; Essay describing where and why you volunteer; application in Student Services file

·        The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Assoc.- $10,000 @$2,500 per year- several scholarships available; GPA: 3.5, science or engineering field of study; Website: www.afceacmd.org Deadline: December 19, 2009

·        Ron Brown Scholar Program- $10,000 apply on-line www.ronbrown.org

      Deadline:  January 2009

·        Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship- on-line application www.nrotc.navy.mil/scholarship  Deadline: Jan. 31, 2009

·        Spirit of Columbia- $2,500 GPA: 2.0, dedicated to community service in Columbia area; Website: www.Columbiaassociation.com Deadline: March 1,09
