Howard County Public School's Fine Arts Advisory Committee (FAAC) Presents:
Music School Admissions and Profession Workshop
Offered for anyone interested, particularly 8th-12th grade students and their parents/guardians. It is scheduled at Riverhill HS on Monday, November 23rd, 6:30- 8:30 PM. The music staff of Riverhill HS and some guest presenters will give an overview to the Music school admissions process, applying for financial aid and the demands of the music profession. College Arts Night
The College Arts Night will be Monday, December 14th, 7:00-9:00 at Atholton High School. The target audience for the evening is students in grades 8-11 who are interested in fine arts education, and their parents. Attendees will be welcomed with a brief introduction, and then will proceed to one of three panels: theater, dance, or visual art.
Theater panelists include Nathan Rosen, theater head at Atholton High School; Jay Herzog, chairman of the theater department at Towson; Abby McKelvey, guidance counselor at Baltimore School of Arts; Mandy Hall, production manager at Everyman Theater; and Katie George, professional puppeteer with experience at Disney and Henson, who runs the teen programs for Howard County Library.
Dance Panelists include two teachers from Howard County, the head of dance at Howard County Community College and an instructor for the Howard County Ballet.
Visual Arts Panelists include Janine D’Adamo and Megan Rogers, two admissions counselors for MICA; Cheryl Smith, a junior student from Philadelphia Academy of the Arts, who graduated from Glenelg High School; Jon Barnes, Creative Director of Jon Barnes Design and Consulting; and Laverne Miers-Bond, a visual arts teacher at Marriott’s Ridge High School. |
